These are some general frequently asked questions. Please feel free to contact the Aquatics Pool Supervisor for any additional questions or concerns you may have. We look forward to seeing you all and reopening the Fred Endert Municipal Pool as soon as possible.
Q: What can I wear to the pool?

A: Swimsuits are required. Please do not wear t-shirts or cut-offs or denim jean shorts. We do not allow cotton material in the pool.

Q: Do I have to be in the water with my child during Starbabies/Tots?

A: Yes! StarBabies and Tots focuses on teaching water skills to children who are not ready to be independent in the water and water safety skills to caregivers.

Q: what are the youth age guidelines for Family and Recreation Swims?

A: 10 & under must be accompanied by an adult in the facility. 10 & under must be able to pass a swim test to be in the pool without an adult.

Q: When can my child swim alone?

A: Children 10 & under must be able to pass a swim test to be in the pool without an adult.

Q: when can my child come to the pool alone?

A: Children over 10 years old.

Q: Can I ride down the slide with my child?

A: Due to facility safety precautions riding the slide with your child is not permitted.

Q: What is the facility swim test?

A: Swimmers under the age of 14 or any swimmer that a lifeguard has concerns about their swimming ability, may be asked to participate in our facility swim test when swimming in water deeper than chest level. Testing includes treading water or floating on your back for 15 seconds. Swimming on top of the water (over arm or strong doggy paddle!) the width and back of the pool with consistent forward progression. 

Q: How do I find the current pool temperature?

A: Please see our Fred Endert Municipal Pool side menu to view the current pool temperature! 

Q: How do I sign up for activities?

A: Available at the Fred Endert Pool for in-person sign ups or on our online catalog: https://secure.rec1.com/CA/crescent-city-ca/catalog for programs, passes, lessons and more!

Q: Where can I find the prices for pool programs?

A: Activity prices will be available on the pool schedule.

Q: Do I have to pay to enter the facility, even though I am not swimming?

A: Only if you are going to be in the pool area, payment is not required if you are going to be sitting in the bleachers.

Q: Can my child bring a mermaid fin to recreation swim or a rental?

A: Unfortunately mermaid fins are not permitted at our facility. For additional information, please contact the Aquatics Supervisor.

Q: Can I bring my outside food/drinks?

A: Outside food and drinks, the exception being water, are not allowed in the pool area. We do offer a selection of snacks and beverages inside the facility.

Q: How many laps (length or width) do I have to swim in order to swim a mile?

A: 71 Laps when swimming the length of the pool

A: 126 laps when swimming the width of the pool

Q: What is the Pool width and length measurements?

A: 14 yards in width and 25 yards in length. 

Q: Is the pool measured in yards or meters?

A: The Fred Endert Municipal Pool is measured in yards. It is a 25 yard pool in length.

Q: Can I have birthday party during recreation or family swim?

A: Parties are allowed during recreation swim only and  we request that if you are going to have more than 10 swimmers that you call ahead so we can schedule appropriately. Please decide how you will be paying for your swimmers ahead of time.

Q: How can I give feedback about a particular experience?

A: If you would like to give feedback about your particular experience please contact the Aquatics Supervisor Alissa Garcia via email agarcia@crescentcity.org or call the pool phone 707-464-9503.

Q: Why is the diving board gone?

A: Our pool depth does not meet the current California Building code requirements for a 1 meter diving board. We are sad to say that we had to remove it. We are looking to replace it with something FUN! (coming soon)

The Fred Endert Municipal Pool will be adhering to COVID Safety Guidelines and precautions. Please feel free to contact the Aquatics Pool Supervisor for any additional questions or concerns you may have. We look forward to seeing you all and reopening the Fred Endert Municipal Pool as soon as possible.
Q: Can/Should I wear my mask while in the water?

A: While swimming in the water it is not recommended that patrons use their facemasks due to facility safety precautions. If you are in a program where your airway will be mostly out of the water we do ask that you wear a cloth facemask to help keep yourself and others as safe as possible in closed areas of the facility such as the locker rooms if you are unvaccinated.

Q: Can the coronavirus disease spread through a hot tub or a swimming pool?

A: Per the CDC

There is no evidence that the virus that causes COVID-19 can spread directly to humans from water in pools, hot tubs or spas, or water play areas.

Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (for example, with chlorine or bromine) of pools, hot tubs or spas, and water playgrounds should kill the virus that causes COVID-19. For more information please view the link below.

Q: Why is there extra time scheduled in between activities?

A: To allow our staff to properly sanitize the facility.
