Feb. 27th 9:00 a.m. - UPDATE
Bertsch Oceanview water customers - the final water samples from yesterday's water main break were sent to the Lab close to midnight last night and we anticipate getting the results of those tests later this afternoon. Expect an update on the final results of the water tests and an update to the boil water notice around 4:30pm this afternoon.
Feb. 26th 5:00 p.m. - UPDATE
The City Public Works crews and Tidewater Contractors have been working hard to repair the damaged water main on Elk Valley Road. The damaged pipe was a 12 inch diameter water main, 8 feet deep, and has now been successfully replaced. City crews are now repressurizing the system, which consists of approximately 20 miles of mains. This means water service is anticipated to be restored tonight, however, this will take some time and there will still be pressure fluctuations while the system is coming back online. Current estimate to have all systems pressure restored is 8pm.
A Boil Water Notice is still in place until the water system has been fully tested. As the system is restored, please expect air in your service lines. This is normal as a system is repressurized as well as experiencing cloudy water. Please run your faucets until the air is expended and the water is clear. Thank you for the community’s patience! Again this is only for the Bertsch Oceanview Area customers. We will be posting an update regarding the boil water notice approximately 12pm tomorrow, Thursday, February 27th.
Notice:
The City is aware of a major water main break off Elk Valley Road at Maiden Lane. City crews are responding and evaluating the cause. This is a large main and hard to access requiring multiple resources. Water service will be out for all of the customer in the Bertsch Oceanview Community Services District. We do not have an estimated time for restoration at this point. As soon as we have more information, we will update this post.
To the residents of the Bertsch Oceanview CSD - please see the published Boil Water Notice as well as the corresponding Bertsch Oceanview Area map , some water customers in the effected area still have water. Once water is fully restored, the boil water notice will stay in effect until all water quality samples come back and the notice is lifted.
For Bertsch Oceanview CSD customers experiencing the water outage - there is free potable water located on Play Street across from Fred Endert Municipal Pool. Please bring clean containers with lids.
